About Who's Cooking
My philosophy when it comes to our menu is simple – the food must be approachable and comforting, yet at the same time exciting. And the core of the menu must be sandwiches. The influence is international, as it should be – sandwiches are enjoyed the world over, so why not seek inspiration from everywhere?
Our approach to our customers’ experience in the restaurant is similar – we wanted our interior to be approachable and comfortable/cozy, yet at the same time exciting. Red was chosen as a dominant colour because of its warmth and its ability to stimulate appetite. The exposed brick wall adds to the coziness, the vintage signs add interest and a casual element, and the dimmable lighting helps to set the mood. Ultimately, however, Karen and I designed the restaurant for ourselves, based on what we like. Finding inspiration from bars and restaurants in NYC, applying our love for great sandwiches and cocktails, and using our own design aesthetic (the restaurant interior looks very similar to our dining room at home), This End Up was born.
